All of our ducky trips are accompanied by a licensed guide. On larger rivers we use oar-powered rafts and catarafts to accompany the duckies. Oars give the guide exceptional maneuvering ability and the raft or cataraft is capable of carrying multiple swimmers (and lunch!). On smaller rivers, the guide will be in his or her own ducky or hard-shell kayak. Before the trip, the guide will provide a safety orientation specific to ducky trips. On the water, the guide will lead the way through the rapids.
Boreas River trips start near Minerva, NY on the Boreas River with 2 miles of meandering Class II whitewater. We take a short stop at the Hudson / Boreas confluence for a snack. Just a half mile downstream is Bus Stop Rapid, the biggest of the day. Bus Stop can be run or easily avoidedand is also a great photo opportunity. After a total of 3 miles on the Hudson, we will arrive at our takeout in North River. Just a 5-minute ride back to our outpost in North Creek.
