Raft Guide Bio of Eric Knierim

Originally a city boy from Chicago, this urban buck found the missing part of his soul in the ever churning world of white water. When not dressed in a tie and button down shirt, shaping the delicate minds of local children, Eric can be found hiking into and hucking himself down some of the sweetest pieces of whitewater the Adirondacks has to offer.

9 years ago Eric thought that guiding whitewater would be a nice way to spend his summers off as a teacher. 9 years later, it's no longer a nice way to spend a summer, but instead a way of life that has taken him from guiding on local Adirondack rivers like the Hudson, Moose, and Black to the Kennebec, Penobscot and Dead in Maine, and more recently out west to Colorado's Gore Canyon, guiding parts of the Arkansas, including Pine Creek, Numbers, and Browns Canyon .

Eric always greets eager guests with a sweet smile, but don't be fooled - you'll see the salty - er side of him as the day progresses and if you're lucky, he might even share some of his twizzlers with you mid-day.

When not paddling, Eric moonlights as a cycling speed racer, peddaling so fast that the local competition spends most of their time cleaning his dust out of their teeth and ears. Eric is also an avid telemark skier when the wet stuff turns fluff.

With Eric as your guide, be ready for anything...
