Raft Guide Bio of Jason Meyer

Jason got introduced to whitewater in the summer of 1998 on summer break from college. He had a friend who worked on the Sacandaga River in Lake Luzerne and told him to come and try it out. He met his wife Kristen at school who lived in Saratoga Springs (about an hour from North Creek), so the decision to move from his home in Batavia, NY to the beautiful Adirondack area was a no brainer.

Early in that first summer, his manager at the Sacandaga told him and a couple other guides that the Hudson was high and they should go up and take a training run. So he went up on a beautiful Saturday in June and the rest, as they say, is history. It was 80 degrees, the river was at 6.5 feet (high for June) and he was hooked.

He got licensed and started working on the Hudson in addition to eventually managing the Sacandaga River. He also, more importantly, met some lifelong friends, Nate and Becky. Nate was managing the Hudson branch of the company they were working for and over the years have formed a great friendship. So when Nate decided to start his own company, he asked Jason if he wanted to work for him. Another NO BRAINER!!!

These days Jason lives with his wife Kristen and their dog, a Beagle named Stella, in Saratoga Springs. He works as a Field Technician for Phoenix Environmental Labs Inc., but on the weekends, when he's not renovating his house, he's out here really appreciating the 4 or so hours he has away from the world. Jason has been heard many times saying, "There is no better way to spend a Saturday then being out here!!!!"
