Boreas River - Part 1 of 2

April 27, 2011 (Wed)
Boreas
4.5

The 100 year flood was coming and we chose the Boreas for our ramp-up day. Every river in the area broke all-time records. We made it about 5 miles before deciding to walk out. The water was higher than any of us had ever seen it and was rising. This would be the first of two aborted missions in 2011. Every trip is an adventure, but they don't always go as planned. This ended up to be a 3-day trip.

Usually you can't touch the bridge as you float under at the putin. This day we had to duck.

River running through the woods, flood stage. Nate in a 14' Sotar cat.

Tiny NRS raft guided by Mike Benevento with Tom, John, and Buzzsaw as his crew. A heavy load for this day.

Linc rowing old tanny. This wasn't long before our tandem ride through the first drop!

Parked to scout the continuous section. Ended up walking 2 miles down, 2 miles back to the boats, then 5 miles to a vehicle.

Waterfall seen on scout.

Moving faster than I've ever seen.

Layers of water.
